VISAKHAPATNAM:
Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy today exuded confidence that the Government
would overcome the legal hurdles being faced by Polavaram project in a month or
two and try to complete it as per schedule.
He said Pulichintala project was delayed by a year because of legal
complications but this time the government would foil the evil designs of
Opposition parties, which were bent on cornering it on frivolous grounds.
Addressing a public meeting at V Madugula after releasing water from Rs 38-crore
Pedderu Reservoir on Monday, Reddy said completion of Pedderu reservoir showed
the Government’s commitment to Jalayagnam and it would not be deterred
by false propaganda being carried out by the Opposition parties.
He observed every project would cause displacement of people, but it would be
foolish to stop the projects.
In response to Madugula MLA K Dharmasri’s proposal, Reddy promised to develop
Pedderu and Raiwada reservoirs as tourist spots and agreed to allocate Rs 1
crore for Pedderu left canal.
